WHERE TO when you are in the Historical City?(Part I)

Wonder where to go if you are in Malacca either vacation or on a business trip? There are several places you can check it out besides the well known Stadhuys..=) Let me bring you around Malacca ~ Let's go...

Santa Cruz

One of the Catholic Church in Malacca, perhaps it's a Chapel. It is located at Malim. On the right of the church is rubber estate and on the left is the cemetary of Hainanese. The feast day of Santa Cruz will be celebrating during mid September and people from all over especially Singapore will be filling the compound..=) Come and celebrate the feast day with us!!^_^

St.Peter's Church

This is another Catholic church which was built in the year 1710 by the descendents of Portugese soldiers in Malacca. It is the oldest catholic church. Can you see the bell within the bell tower? The bell was manufactured in Goa, India in the year 1608. The church still serves its purpose till now as a Catholic Church in Malacca town. Have you been to this church during Good Friday? No? Come and experience it yourself!!!=)

St. Francis Xavier's Church

This is a Catholic church which was built by Father Farvé, a French priest in the year 1856, in honor of St.Francis Xavier. This church is located in Jalan Laksamana, a 3 minutes walk from Stadhuys.

St. Paul's

It was built on the top of the hill by a Portugese named Duarte Coelho in the year 1521 and being called 'Our Lady of the Hill' before the Dutch renamed it. St.Francis Xavier visited this church regularly and following his death in China, His body was brought back to Malacca and burried in the church. Then after nine months, the body was transferred to Goa, India. The feast day will be celebrating in early November every year.=)

A'Famosa Fort

Down the hill of St.Paul's is where Porta de Santiago known as A'Famosa Fort located. It is the landmark of Malacca the Historical City! This is the main gate of once the portugese fortress which originally constructed by the famous Alfonso de Albuquerque, the conqueror of Malacca in the year 1511., but then most part of the fortress destroyed by the British.

Istana Kesultanan Melaka

Ok, we are now down the hill and we are here in front of the Istana Kesultanan Melaka. It was just next to the A'Famosa Fort. Istana Kesultanan Melaka is a replica of the Istana Kesultanan Melayu Melaka . The actual Istana Kesultanan Melayu Melaka was built between year 1456 till 1477 during the ruling of the late Sultan Mansur Shah. The interesting fact is that this palace was built without using any nails. The replica was built in the year 1984 and was officiated by the Prime Minister on 17th July 1986.
